Mutoid Landscapes

Over the course of a few solo shows, I noticed a pattern emerge. I was constructing a vague realm with inhabitants of it’s own. In those, the focus was on figurative works. That reflection led me to explore the realm itself. Where do these things reside? Are the environments natural or constructed? Are they created by them, or for them by something else? With no clear plan, I set out to to create some habitats. The painting process dictated the content here. One landscape is naturally occurring and the other is constructed. Interestingly, they both feel abandoned.
